『火』を知り、観察し、使いこなそう！ Permaculture Fire Skills Intensive

火は、人類にとって最も古くからの「師」の一つでした。
体をあたためること、料理をすること、道具や暮らしをつくること。火は、自然の循環や人と人とのつながりの中でも、いつも大切な役割を果たしてきました。

現代においても、火を安全に、そして上手に扱う知恵はとても重要です。それは単なるサバイバルスキルではなく、自然と共に暮らす力や、自分たちの暮らしを自分たちでクリエイトする力に繋がります。さらに身の回りの資源を活かしながら、持続可能で再生的な暮らしをデザインしていくための土台にもなります。

このワークショップでは、火の起源から現代におけるサステナブルな活用法までを「大地旅人（Earth Passengers）」共同設立者のピーター・モアヘッドさんを台湾からお招きして学びます。
燃料を節約する効率的な着火技術、ロケットストーブやウッドガスストーブの製作と実用、高効率なアースオーブン（土窯）の使い方、そして火がどのようにバイオ炭や灰となり、土壌を再生し生態系を支えるかまでを実践しながら学びます。

【この講座で学ぶこと】
火の起源： 火と生命の共進化、不可欠な着火スキル、熱力学、熱と燃焼の原理について。
火のデザイン（実践）： 原始的な火起こし（弓切り式、火打石、竹鋸、ファイヤーロール、レンズ着火、炭化させた火口や布など）、自然素材による着火法、ロケットストーブ＆ウッドガスストーブの製作、アースオーブンの活用、直火料理。
火のライフサイクル： バイオ炭の生成と活用、灰の生態学的役割、再生サイクルの一部としての火のあり方。
火の儀式： 火を世話する中で、敬意と「今ここにある感覚」を取り戻すリコネクション（再接続）。

【講師紹介】 ピーター・モアヘッド (Peter Morehead)
台湾初の認定パーマカルチャー講師。デザイナー、作家、教育者であり、「大地旅人（Earth Passengers）」の共同設立者。台湾をはじめ、アジアや世界各地のプロジェクトにおいて25年以上にわたるパーマカルチャーの指導・コンサルティング経験を持つ。

Fire has been one of humanity’s oldest teachers.

From warming our bodies, to cooking food, to crafting tools and shaping daily life — fire has always played a vital role within natural cycles and in the relationship between people and the land.

Even today, the wisdom of how to work with fire safely and skillfully remains deeply important. It is not merely a survival skill; it is a gateway to living in closer relationship with nature and to creating our own ways of living with our own hands. It also forms a foundation for designing regenerative and sustainable lifestyles using the resources around us.

In this workshop, we will explore fire — from its origins to its sustainable applications in the modern world — together with Peter Morehead, co-founder of Earth Passengers, joining us from Taiwan.

Through hands-on practice, participants will learn efficient fire-starting techniques that conserve fuel, the construction and use of rocket stoves and wood-gas stoves, how to work with high-efficiency earth ovens, and how fire transforms into biochar and ash that help regenerate soil and support healthy ecosystems.

[What You Will Learn]

Origins of fire: Co-evolution of fire and life, essential ignition skills, heat and combustion principles.
Design with fire (Practical): Primitive fire-making (including bow-drill, flint+steel, bamboo saw, fireroll, plastic magnifiers, char punk, char cloth, etc.), natural ignition methods, rocket stove & wood-gas stove construction, earth-oven use, cooking with fire.
Life cycle of fire: How to produce and apply biochar, ecological roles of ash, fire as part of a regenerative cycle.
Fire ritual: Reconnect with respect and presence while tending fire.
By the end, you will know how to use fire efficiently, safely, and sustainably—turning it into a reliable ally for a resilient lifestyle.

[Instructor Profile] Peter Morehead Taiwan’s first certified Permaculture teacher; designer, author, educator, and co-founder of Earth Passengers. With 25+ years of permaculture teaching and consulting experience across Taiwan, Asia, and global projects.
